L-Soft Celebrates 15th Anniversary

An anniversary is a birthday of sorts, a time for reflection and celebration, and we welcome you to join us in commemorating L-Soft's 15th.

L-Soft's journey as a company began in 1994 when Eric Thomas, who invented LISTSERV in 1986, in his own words "founded L-Soft with $3,000 and a laptop in order to further develop LISTSERV."

We would like to thank all LISTSERV at Work readers and our thousands of customers around the world and hope to earn the opportunity to provide our world-class LISTSERV® brand solutions to readers who are not currently using them.

We hope you will enjoy exploring our new interactive tools and special offers, all with a sharp focus on what L-Soft's products enable organizations and people to do: Communicate, Collaborate and Connect.

Q: How can I maximize security for my LISTSERV installation or for individual LISTSERV lists?

Answer by Ben Parker
Chief Corporate Consultant, L-Soft

From time to time a question arises about how to increase security for a LISTSERV installation or for individual LISTSERV lists. The basic means for improving security is to deny access to any information that might be used by unscrupulous persons to attack your server or your list.

LISTSERV Maestro Tech Tip

Q: Is it possible to add a "timestamp" profile field to a dataset that is updated whenever any of the other profile fields are changed?

Answer by Johannes Hubert and Holly Taylor
LISTSERV Maestro Project Manager and Technical Writer,

For many data administrators, keeping track of their subscribers' data and its accuracy is a major concern. Simply having a way to keep track of the last date and time that a specific record was updated would be beneficiary. Because of this need, LISTSERV Maestro 4.0-5 and later has made it possible for you to create a "timestamp" that helps you keep your subscriber information up-to-date. This timestamp is created by adding a special derivation rule formula to a derived profile field.
