About Discussion Groups

Discussion groups or lists allow for ongoing discussions among members, with or without moderation. These types of lists are most commonly used for internal communication within an organization or group of people. Unlike a one-way list, a discussion list not only allows but encourages interaction among members who are part of the group. Every member can write to the group, and in doing so, everyone will receive a copy of the message.

Discussion Group

When administering discussion groups, it is important to use full-featured email list management software. The software should provide double opt-in functionality and an easy-to-use interface for group members to automatically subscribe, unsubscribe and change their email addresses or subscription settings. Naturally, the software should also automatically handle bounces or delivery errors, maintain message archives and provide security features that keep the groups free from viruses and spam.
