Email List Hosting Order Form


Do not provide your credit card number or any other billing information on this form! You will be contacted by a sales representative to arrange payment. We accept payment by credit card (Amex, VISA, MasterCard) or by U.S. check. Residents of the state of Maryland will be charged applicable sales tax.

When you press the Submit button, the following will happen:

  1. The information you provided will be mailed to our sales department. You will receive a copy of this message at the e-mail address supplied on the form.
  2. A sales representative will contact you, either on the phone or (if you did not supply a phone number) by e-mail, to arrange payment of the first quarter's fees.
  3. Once payment has cleared, an EASE administrator will proceed with the creation of the list. If you checked the box indicating that you have (or will provide) an existing list header in LISTSERV® format ($5 setup fee), the list will be created with a minimal configuration that will allow you to store your existing header, and you will be informed as soon as it is ready. Otherwise ($10 setup fee), an EASE administrator will contact you to discuss the parameters that you wish to use.

Pressing the Submit button does not constitute a binding commitment to purchase an EASE Home list. You may cancel your order at any time prior to the actual payment of the first quarter's fees.


Order Form

Please take a few minutes to answer the questions below so that we may process your order. We have placed the toughest questions first, so that you do not spend time answering easy questions only to discover that you have some research to do and need to come back. To keep the list of questions to a reasonable size, we have only addressed the most basic configuration options here. You will be free to fine-tune your list configuration once the list is set up and change any of the parameters mentioned in this form (except for the name of the list).

1. Choose a name for your list (COFFEE-LOVERS, XYZ-L, etc.)

The name should be descriptive, but specific. Generic names such as JAZZ-L or INDIA are likely to be taken already. Many lists have a name ending in -L, as a convention, but this is not a requirement. If you are not sure, leave this field blank and our list administrators will suggest a suitable name based on the list description (see below).

You may want to search the catalog of LISTSERV lists, CataListSM, first to make sure that your name is not already taken by another list.

IMPORTANT: This is the only parameter that you will not be able to change yourself once the list is created, so choose it carefully. We have to charge $20 to change the name of an existing mailing list because this invariably results in a lot of inquiries to our postmaster.

2. Enter a short "title" for your list

The title should be a short description of the purpose of your list, and must fit on one line. A good title could be "The coffee lovers' list" or "The works of Jack Pianist".

Choosing a good title is important, as this is what will be shown when people search in CataListSM (your list will be automatically added to this database if it is open to the public). Potential subscribers must be able to quickly identify the purpose of your list by just reading the title.

3. Enter a description for your list

The description should be detailed enough to make it clear to any prospective subscriber what the list is about. You should try not to exceed 4-5 lines. There is no need to indicate the address of the person who will manage the list as this information will be provided in a separate field.

Note that you can provide HTML tags in your list description for the benefit of people who look for your list in CataListSM. This, however, is a more advanced topic, and you should feel free to come back to it later if this is the first time you manage a LISTSERV list.

4. Select list archive options

LISTSERV can automatically archive the messages posted to your list. Activating this option may increase the charges for the list as it will increase the amount of disk space used up by your list. The first 1 MB is free and may be sufficient to keep a few months' archives. Additional disk space is billed at the rate of $0.25 per month and per MB (fractions rounded up).

Your list archives can also be made available via a WWW interface, which allows subscribers to search for, read and reply-to posted messages. Enabling this option provides an additional link for List Owners to reach the standard WWW List Management Interface for your list. (You do NOT need to keep archives to be able to use the WWW List Management interface.)

5. Select access control options

LISTSERV gives you full control over the security of your list. There are a lot of options that allow you to define who can do what and when, and it would be impossible to include them all in this form. For a full discussion of LISTSERV's security and access control features, please refer to the LISTSERV List Owner's Manual.

Some of the most commonly used configurations will be listed below. If the configuration you are looking for is not listed, just select another one for now and change it once the list has been created.

6. Select visibility options

By default, your list will be automatically announced by your EASE Home server and will (within 24h of its creation) appear in CataListSM and be available for searching through the LIST GLOBAL command. In some cases, however, this may not be desirable. While this is an "advanced" configuration option, we are including it here because of the potential impact of an unwanted automatic announcement. You should not uncheck the box unless your list is of a confidential or sensitive nature.

7. Enter your name, phone number and e-mail address

We need your name and e-mail address to establish your account and create the list. We will also need your phone number if you want to pay by credit card. L-Soft does not accept credit card numbers by electronic mail!

8. Confirm the charges you will incur

Please enter the size of your list and the amount of archive space that you will need (the first 1 MB is free, fractional numbers are rounded up). If you are not sure about any of these items, just select the entry that reads "QUOTE" and submit the form anyway. A sales representative will contact you to discuss your needs.

IMPORTANT: You do not incur any legal obligation by submitting this form. We are asking you to confirm the charging level simply to make sure that there has been no misunderstanding. You can cancel your order at any time prior to actual payment. Do not give us your credit card number now!

Setup charge:

Setup charge: the reduced $5 rate is available if you have an existing "list header" in LISTSERV® format, or if you agree to prepare one yourself using the LISTSERV List Owner's Manual. In that case, we will create the list with a minimal header and you will be in charge of configuring it yourself.

Note that these prices only cover the creation of the list. If you need assistance with importing subscribers from a database program, L-Soft can provide this service at an additional fee.

9. Additional charges

Certain extra and optional services may result in additional charges. The charges for additional archives diskspace have been detailed above. Other extra-charge services may include exceeding the daily message quota of 100/day, importation of an existing list from another site, importation of existing archives from another site, custom programming, etc. We will be glad to quote on these optional, extra services in advance.

10. Select your preferred language

While L-Soft's sales operations are based in the U.S., we have customers all over the world and understand how uncomfortable it can be to discuss a purchase in a foreign language. Some of our sales representatives speak other languages and you may select your preferred language from the list given below. You will get best response time, however, if you select English.

11. Submit the information

Please click on the Submit button below when you are ready to submit your order. The time frame for processing your order is as follows:

  • Within a few minutes, you will receive an e-mail message confirming the receipt of your order.
  • You will then be contacted by a sales representative within 1 business day. Our Ease Home Order Desk is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Eastern U.S. time. We are closed on weekends and on standard U.S. holidays. There might be an additional delay if you selected a language other than English.
  • Once payment has cleared, you can expect your list to be created within 24 hours.
  • Your list will be registered in CataListSM within 24 hours of its creation.
